Όντως οι ελάχιστες απαιτήσεις συστήματος των Vista είναι περισσότερες, ενώ τα Windows 7 προσφέρουν τα ίδια (και περισσότερα) με λιγότερες απαιτήσεις.

Τα Vista αποτέλεσαν ένα καινούργιο σημείο αναφοράς για την Microsoft, αφού άλλαξε τελείως η δομή του κώδικα των windows με την εισαγωγή διανυσμάτων. Αποτέλεσμα αυτής της αλλαγής ήταν η δημιουργία ενός όχι και τόσο αξιόπιστου λειτουργικού συστήματος (Vista), αφού αποτελούσε τη πρώτη δοκιμή αυτού του νέου κώδικα. Έτσι λοιπόν τα windows 7 είναι λογικό να είναι καλύτερα από τα vista σε όλους τους τομείς, αφού περιέχουν βελτιώσεις αυτής της νέας δομής κώδικα για τη Microsoft και των διανομών Windows.
